Beer Fest 2014, 13-17 August, Usce Square

Beer Fest 2014 Belgrade Serbia
Belgrade Beer Fest is on average, the biggest beer festival in Southeastern Europe. Within 5 days, over 500.000 people visit the festival. The large number of visitors is mostly due to basic festival principles: free entrance, an exceptional music program, and a wide range of foreign and domestic beer brands.
Belgrade Beer Fest was founded in year 2003. In eleven years of its existence over 6.2 million visitors could have seen more than 490 free music performances, tasted more than 100 beer brands and participated in numerous social campaigns. The festival has received numerous awards. One of them is the recommendation of the British newspaper "The Independent", which ranked Belgrade Beer Fest in year 2005, among 20 world events that must be visited. Professor Dennis Wilcox, in his book, "PR Strategies and Tactics" which is being used in over 350 universities around the globe, stated Belgrade Beer Festâ„¢ as a positive example of marketing and PR campaign. With regard to large social campaign "I choose to recycle", whose aims were the strengthening of the environmental awareness of citizens and the purchasing of recycling containers for Belgrade schools, marketing magazine "Taboo" awarded the Festival as the marketing event of the year 2009.

Owing to all the mentioned, Belgrade Beer Festâ„¢ established itself as one of the most important segments of the tourist offer of Serbia, as well as a brand that promotes our country and strengthens its image.

Iron Maiden, 17th June, Kalemegdan

Iron Maiden in Belgrade
Avalon Production proudly announce that Iron Maiden will play a headline show at Belgrade’s Kalemegdan Park on June 17th on their Maiden England Tour. This great music spectacle will be the first open-air show in Serbia for the legendary British band since their visit to Belgrade in 1981! Kalemegdan Park, is a part of Belgrade Fortress whose historical significance and centre position in the capital of Serbia make the perfect venue for all Maiden fans.
Special guests on this show will be Swedish metal band Ghost.
Ticket sales will start on February 26th via Iron Maiden global fan club and Eventim network. Prices will range from 2990 RSD for P2, 3500 RSD for P1 and 4500 RSD for Fan Pit tickets. Doors open 18:00.
Lead singer Bruce Dickinson comments:
“We can't wait to bring the Maiden England show to Belgrade, especially to play in such an incredible setting as Kalemegdan Park! We always love playing in Serbia as our fans here are amazing and always give us such a great welcome. Although the Maiden England tour is largely based on the 1988 Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour, for the 2014 shows we are changing the set list around a bit to cover the whole of the 1980’s more as this may be the last time we play some of these songs live. Of course we’ll be bringing the huge lightshow, stage set, various incarnations of Eddie, plenty of pyro and all kinds of other exciting stuff for the fans, only this time round it will be even more of a celebration as it’s the end of a chapter and we plan to give our fans a show they will never, ever forget!”
Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood explains further:
“As all our fans know, the DVD of Maiden England is Part 3 in the History Trilogy of the 1980s video/DVD releases so this is likely to be the last time we will tour with a set list based on the ‘80s, and therefore the last time fans will EVER hear some of these songs played live. With this in mind, for the 2014 dates we plan to change the set list around a little, to make it more equally representative of the whole of the ‘80s period covered by those three DVDs – Early Days, Live After Death and of course Maiden England, along with one notable exception from the 90’s, the fans will know which song I’m talking about! “
The 2014 dates mark the final leg of the MAIDEN ENGLAND world tour which began in the USA in June 2012 and continued into Europe and Latin America, including Rock In Rio, Brazil which sold out 90,000 tickets within hours of the announcement of Maiden’s headline show there on the final night of the Festival. The 2013 dates ended in Chile at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago playing to 60,105 fans: “the largest audience by a British band ever” as reported by national newspaper La Tercera. 2013 also saw a return to play to 95,000 fans at UK’s Donington Park on the 25th Anniversary of the band’s first headline performance at the legendary home of rock in 1988 during the Seventh Son World Tour. This was a record FIFTH time that the band topped the bill at Donington.
When the MAIDEN ENGLAND Tour ends on July 5, at Sonisphere, Knebworth in England, the show will have been seen by well over two million fans across the globe, proving once again the band show no signs of slowing down or losing the formidable passion that has seen them triumphant at the forefront of Metal for over three decades.

Belgrade Irish Festival, 13/03/14 - 18/03/14

Belgrade Irish Festival, 13/03/14 - 18/03/14
Second edition of the Belgrade Irish Festival, a veritable outpouring of Irish culture onto the unsuspecting and historic capital of Serbia, will be held from March 13 to 18.
This year's programme has evolved into a mixture of Irish food, dancing, drinking, singing, movies, photography and literature, and festival's goal is to engage with the city at large, as well as to "salute" the works o small but dynamic "pockets" of philo-Hibernian Serbs, whose on-going activities make them "custodians" of Irish traditions in Serbia today.
Festival brings diverse events, located in downtown venues: Supermarket will serve a traditional variant of an Irish meal, crispy "fish n chips", while the Black Turtle Bar and Micro-brewery will brew-up a "green stout" for a St Patrick's day party on the March 17.
The global Irish dance extravaganza, Lord of the Dance, will join the party, before hosting dance and music workshops, leading up to a dramatic performance at the Kombank Arena, the next day, 18th March.
The program will present two works of art - the Irish writer, Hubert Butler, who lived-in and wrote over 60 essays on Yugoslavia and the Balkans and another, a captivating documentary lm, The Rocky Road to Dublin, which fell foul of the Irish authorities, and were "suppressed" long after they made their first appearance. Coincidentally, Butler's works became "non-gratia" in Ireland due to the publication of his research into fascist crimes in Yugoslavia during World War II.

Jamiroquai, 30th June 2013, Kombank Arena

Jamiroquai are a British jazz funk and acid jazz band formed in 1992. Fronted by lead singer Jay Kay, Jamiroquai were initially the most prominent component in the early-1990s London-based acid jazz movement, alongside groups such as Incognito, the James Taylor Quartet, and the Brand New Heavies. Subsequent albums have explored other musical directions such as pop, rock and electronica. Their best known track is "Virtual Insanity", which won four awards at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards. Jamiroquai have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and won a Grammy Award in 1998. Jamiroquai's first single, "When You Gonna Learn", was released in 1992 on the Acid Jazz label. Following its success, Kay signed an eight-album record deal with Sony Music Entertainment. The first Sony album, Emergency on Planet Earth was released in 1993. It was followed in 1994 by The Return of the Space Cowboy. The single "Space Cowboy" gained notice on the charts and in club rotation. While Jamiroquai was growing in popularity in the UK, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, they remained relatively unknown to U.S and other international audiences. The band's American breakthrough came with the third album, Travelling Without Moving in 1996, which yielded two big hits, "Virtual Insanity" and "Cosmic Girl". The success of "Virtual Insanity" was due in part to its Jonathan Glazer-directed video, which featured Kay's dance moves and some physics-defying images.
